Free air conditioners offered to multiple sclerosis patients

The Multiple Sclerosis Society of Portland is accepting applications for free window air conditioners for MS patients in Oregon and Southwest Washington.

The organization will order window units every Friday for delivery the following week through July 31 or until the funding runs out. Last year, the organization gave away 148 units through its Summer Comfort Program.

The program distributes 5,000 BTU window air conditioners with remote controls and cannot accommodate special needs, such as free-standing or vertical units. Units will be delivered to the home, but recipients are responsible for installation.

To apply for an air conditioner, visit the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Portland website, www.msoregon.org, and click on the “Summer Comfort” link.

Those who would like to make a donation to the Summer Comfort Program can make a contribution to the organization’s GoFundMe account, www.gofundme.com/msoregon. All donations there will be used exclusively to purchase and ship air conditioners.
