EUGENE, Ore.– A jury in Eugene needed only 2 1/2 hours to find an 80-year-old man guilty of murdering his landlady.

Howard Stull will be sentenced to life in prison this week. He showed no reaction when receiving the verdict Thursday.

A medical examiner said Kathy Braun suffered 55 stabbing and slashing wounds in the July 23, 2015, attack that left her dead in the garage of her home.

Stull had rented a bedroom from Braun for about 10 months. He testified that he acted in self-defense when Braun approached him with a large knife.
