Community notebook: Vancouver hosting big youth soccer tournament

Nearly 300 youth soccer teams will be in Vancouver this weekend for the 2017 adidas Clash at the Border tournament.

Top level premier, select, classic, and travel teams from Washington, Oregon, Alaska, California, Idaho, Hawaii, and Canada are scheduled to compete in age groups ranging from U9 to U19.

Games will take place Friday through Sunday at:

• Harmony Sports Complex (at N.E. 18th St. and N.E. 192nd Ave.)

• Doc Harris Stadium in Camas (1125 N.E. 22nd Ave.)

• Camas High School (26900 S.E. 15th St.)

• Clark College (1933 Fort Vancouver Way)

• Luke Jensen Sports Park (4000 N.E. 78th St.)

• Skyridge Middle School (5220 N.W. Parker St. in Camas)

• Union High School (6201 N.W. Friberg-Strunk St.)

• McKenzie Stadium (2205 N.E. 138th Ave., Vancouver)

• Burton Elementary (14015 N.E. 28th St., Vancouver)

• Delta Park in North Portland.

Teams are grouped according to level of play with each team playing at least four games.

Admission is free at all sites. A $10 weekend parking pass is required for Harmony Sports Complex, good for all three days.

Vancouver hosting lacrosse tournament

The Valhalla Lacrosse Summer Invasion takes place Friday though Sunday at three Vancouver locations.

Some 100 boys and girls lacrosse teams are scheduled to compete.

Games will be hosted at Jason Lee Sports Complex (8500 N.W. 9th Ave.), Columbia River High School (800 N.W. 99th St.), King’s Way Christian School (3300 N.E. 78th St.), and Gaiser Middle School (3000 N.E. 99th St.).

Games are scheduled for 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. Friday; 8 a.m.-9 p.m. on Saturday; and 8 a.m.-3 p.m. on Sunday.

Masters rowing regionals at Vancouver Lake

The 2017 U.S. Rowing Northwest Masters Regional Championships will be Friday through Sunday on Vancouver Lake.

Masters rowers are age 27 and up.

Competition begins at 10 a.m. Friday; and 8 a.m. Saturday and Sunday and runs throughout the day.

This event is one of four masters regional championships leading to the national championships in August at Oak Ridge, Tenn.

Grass Valley next for Wednesday runs

The Clark County Running Club’s Wednesday runs continues this week at Grass Valley Park in Camas, 3211 N.W. 38th Ave.

The 5-kilometer run begins at 7 p.m.

The June 28 run is also at 7 p.m. at Grass Valley.

Runners are advised that if the Grass Valley Park parking lot is full, they may park at the Lacamas Swim and Sport complex lot.

Vancouver Victory top Olympic Force 3-1

The Vancouver Victory picked up a 3-1 win over the Olympic Force in Evergreen Premier League play Sunday at Ridgefield.

Details from the match were not reported.

Vancouver (3-1-1, fifth place) next hosts Yakima United at 5 p.m. Saturday, and then hosts Oly Town at 7 p.m. June 27. Both matches will be at the Ridgefield High School stadium.
