Playing golf as hot as the weather, Camas High grad and Boise State golfer Brian Humphreys advanced to his second consecutive Oregon Amateur final.

Humphreys, seeded No. 22, beat No. 2 Riley Elmes of Lake Oswego 5 and 4 on Saturday at Oregon Golf Club to advance.

Next up for Humphreys is top seed Cole Madey of West Linn, Ore., and member of the UCLA golf team. They are scheduled to tee off at 1:20 p.m. today for the championship round.

Humphreys, the Mountain West Conference champion, was runner up at the Oregon Amateur last year when it was played at Black Butte, Ore.

Elmes, who plays collegiately at Loyola Marymount, never had a lead on Humphreys.

Of his four birdies Saturday, Humphreys made back-to-back birdies on holes 10 and 11 to go 4-up.

After a birdie on 12, Elmes then bogeyed 13 and double bogeyed 14 to give the match to Humphreys, who made par on both those holes.

Earlier, Will Snow, an Evergreen High grad, lost in the quarterfinal round to Madey 3 and 1. Madey then reached the final with a 3 and 2 win over Blake Seabaugh of Tigard. Seabaugh had opened his tournament on Thursday with a 4 and 2 win over Braeden Campbell of Washougal.

In the women’s tournament, Camas resident and No. 2 seed Amanda Elich lost in the semifinals to No. 3 seed Amanda Jacobs of Portland 2 and 1.
