Christen Palmer was named as the new principal for Ridgefield High School. She’ll start in the fall and comes to Ridgefield after spending the last six years as associate principal at Heritage High School in Evergreen Public Schools.

Palmer, who is from Anchorage, Alaska, received her undergraduate degree from the University of Kansas and completed her graduate studies in educational leadership at Washington State University.

She is taking over for Tony VanderMaas, who is joining the Longview School District as executive director of leadership and learning. He spent the last nine years as principal of the school.
