Camas High grad and Boise State golfer Brian Humphreys may have been done in by home course advantage.

Cole Madey of West Linn, Ore., who plays collegiately at UCLA, beat Humphreys 5 and 4 on Sunday to win the Oregon Amateur Championship at The Oregon Golf Club.

Madey, the tournament’s top seed, grew up playing and is a member of The Oregon Golf Club, plus he lives nearby the course.

Neither finalist had played a full match during the week as they advanced through the bracket of 64.

Madey took the lead for good against Humphreys on the eighth hole of the 36-hole final. He led 7-up after the first 18 and stretched it to as much as 8-up.

Humphreys, the Mountain West Conference champion and runner-up last year at the Oregon Amateur, made a charge by making eagle the 28th hole.

Still down eight, Humphreys hit a drive at the green of the 355-yard dogleg right that settled 10 feet from the pin, and putted in for eagle. The eagle paired with winning the 30th and 31st holes got Humphreys back to 5-down.

The pair halved the 32nd hole, solidifying Madey’s victory and his first Oregon Amateur title.
