Barberton — Six teen leaders were elected to serve on the North American board of NFTY, the Reform Jewish youth movement. Reform Judaism is one of the largest movements in the Jewish religion, reaching nearly 900 congregations and more than 1.5 million people. Zachary Herrmann from Congregation Kol Ami was named president of the board for the 2017-2018 program year. Herrmann previously served as the president of NFTY’s Northwest Region. A primary focus of the teen leaders will be NFTY’s newly launched Racial Justice Campaign, which is focused on helping teens reflect, relate and reform on matters of racial injustice, such as mass incarceration and voting rights.
