Letter: Continue to allow snow tires

By Barb Rider, Camas

Keep metal studded snow tires in Washington! Parts of our state (mostly low-population, rural, steep and higher elevation areas) routinely get winter snow and ice, while others rarely do. Washington’s snowy regions have few plows and trucks, and those residents need access to equipment such as studded snow tires to cope with more severe conditions. Studded snow tires wear out much faster than standard tires so owners self-limit their use to only the most needed times for safety. Studs do less damage than chains to roads, too. Contact your state reps.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
