Washougal — More than 100 students, parents and family members had a math-filled evening at Hathaway Elementary School on Feb. 23. The guests were at the school for Family Math Night, where their activities included solving puzzles, making paper airplanes and building with marshmallows. The night was open to students in kindergarten through fifth grade, and they played games including Quizmo, Make and Take a Clock, and Multiplication War. “It is important for schools to have family engagement activities like this one,” Dana Wilson, Hathaway Booster president, said in a release from the district. “Parents showing interest in what their child is doing in school has an effect on student success. It is also building school community and creating a good vibe among families.”
