Art, comedy, variety show, Critter Count dot March calendar

Vancouver USA Singers will present one of the greatest choral works ever composed, Mozart’s “Requiem Mass,” accompanied by full orchestra. The concert will also feature “All God’s Children,” a piece written for the 50th anniversary of the Vancouver USA Singers in 2013 by American composer Henry Mollicone. Mollicone will also be the guest conductor at both performances at 7 tonight and 3 p.m. Sunday at the First Presbyterian Church, 4300 Main St., Vancouver. It’s a St. Patrick’s Day Movie with Fort Vancouver Pipe Band. Enjoy a classic bagpipe performance of Scottish and Irish tunes, followed by the showing of the classic 1952 movie “The Quiet Man,” starring John Wayne. Battle Ground Art Alliance will host its annual Spring Show and Sale. Visitors can view and purchase art, vote for the People’s Choice award and enjoy live music by local musicians. A meet-the-artist public reception will be from 6 to 8 p.m. March 18, with the awards presentation at 6:30 p.m. The show will run 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. March 18 and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 19 at the Battle Ground Community Center, 921 E. Pin-ups On Tour will perform a vintage-inspired variety show to support hospitalized veterans and deployed troops. Laughing on Last Saturday will feature comedians Don Frost and Lonnie Bruhn as the duo present a night of stand-up comedy at 7:30 p.m. March 25 at Old Liberty Theater,115 N. Main Ave., Ridgefield. They will be joined by comedian Dwight Slade as the headliner. Slade was the first stand-up comedian to make an appearance at the three major North American comedy festivals: Aspen, Chicago and Montreal. Discover the hidden world of amphibians and reptiles during the 17th Annual Critter Count. Local residents are invited to help assist with amphibian and reptile field surveys, beginning with a brief training session at 9 a.m. April 8 at the Water Resources Education Center, 4600 S.E.
