Letter: Differences between the parties

By Paul Weinbrenner, Vancouver
Published: March 14, 2017, 6:00am

I’ve been comparing and contrasting our politics. A president leaving office changes the immigration policy concerning Cuba. An incoming president within two weeks changes the immigration policy concerning a minority of the Middle East nations. Both leave families separated, on the border awaiting entry, and involve people who have waited over two years to enter.

One causes protest, court orders and violence, and the other one causes no reaction worthy of news time. I’m told the group Indivisible is like the Tea Party. One was started in D.C., sponsored by a major Democratic Party donor and promotes an agenda to oppose Republican candidates and policy issues. The other started away from D.C., only later financed by a large donor, opposed their same party, Republican, issues and candidates, and eventually opposed the opposite party’s agenda. Please tell me why the nightly news tells me these all are the same.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
