Woodland — Holland America Flower Gardens owner Benno Dobbe was in Washington, D.C., earlier this month to meet with representatives to discuss issues in flower industry.

Dobbe went to Washington with the California Cut Flowers Commission Governmental Relations Committee, of which he is the chairman.

During the trip, Dobbe met with U.S. Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Camas, one of the first four House members who initiated the Congressional Cut Flower Caucus in February 2014, Dobbe said.

During their meeting, Dobbe gave Herrera Beutler a scarf with the message “Take pride in your flowers.”
