Letter: GOP health plan is boondoggle

By Ken Koch, Ridgefield

Well, surprise, surprise — the GOP health plan is more about money for the rich than it is about health care for Americans. Canadians pay less than what we do for better health care and everyone is covered. Just like the president’s many promises, a single-payer plan would be better, cheaper, and cover everyone.

The problem here is political cowardice. Politicians fear losing generous campaign donors like insurance companies. Think about it. Do we really need to be at the mercy of shrinking insurance markets, outrageous executive pay, the relentless pursuit for more and more profit (higher premiums, less coverage), or fear of being dropped? Hey, we could always sugarcoat it with a tax break for the rich.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
