Local foodies can soon dine like a basketball star — Ilani Casino Resort announced Monday plans for Michael Jordan’s Steak House to set up shop inside the casino, along with the Pacific Northwest-inspired seafood restaurant called Line & Lure Seafood Kitchen and Tap.
Promising a fine-dining experience with a “down-to-earth” approach, Michael Jordan’s Steak House features prime, dry-aged steaks, “upscale comfort food” and local seasonal dishes as well as craft ales, cocktails and a large wine selection. The restaurant’s location at the La Center junction with Interstate 5 will seat up to 306 people — including a table that’s reserved for the six-time National Basketball Association champion.
And he’s expected to drop in at some point.
“Michael Jordan takes pride in his Steak House restaurants, and this location is no different,” Carly Langdon, a restaurant spokeswoman, said in an email.
“Michael Jordan has a table at each restaurant, and looks forward to visiting the (Ilani) location to officially claim his seat. With that said, he has not set a date for when he expects to visit.”
“We are ecstatic to welcome Michael Jordan’s Steak House to Ilani, where his vision and execution in creating the ultimate dining experience will be as unparalleled as his basketball prowess,” Ilani founder and Cowlitz Tribe member David Barnett said in the press release.
The restaurant includes a 24-person private dining area and an outdoor dining patio featuring a fire pit, according to an Ilani press release.
Michael Jordan’s Steak House has locations in New York, Chicago and at Mohegan Sun’s casino in Connecticut. The Mohegan Tribe partnered with the Cowlitz Tribe to finance and manage the $510 million casino, which is slated to open next month. The casino will offer 15 different restaurants, bars and retail outlets in addition to 80 gaming tables and 2,500 slot machines.
Line & Lure Seafood Kitchen and Tap will highlight Pacific Northwest and indigenous fare with regional dishes, cocktails and local beer and wines. The seafood spot will be able to seat 254 people, including a 28-person private dining room and an outdoor dining patio, also with a fire pit.
Both restaurants will be open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. with weekend brunch served.
“It is an exciting opportunity to introduce Ilani with the presence of these incredible dining options. We are thrilled to welcome two restaurants that truly embody our culture and values with their commitment to employees and passion for unmatched guest service. We cannot wait for guests to experience all they have to offer,” said Ilani’s president and general manager, Kara Fox-LaRose, in a prepared statement.
