Letter: Who does Herrera Beutler work for?

In light of proposed tax cuts for the wealthy that will add another $2 trillion to our national debt, George Hamilton’s letter (“Which way for Herrera Beutler?” May 2) asked who our congresswoman works for. Some say she works for the citizens who voted for her, most of whom will see little or no benefit from these tax cuts.

However, she owes her job in Congress to wealthy contributors — individuals, businesses and organizations who contributed the $1,762,902 that allowed her to keep her job in Congress, contributors who will benefit from these tax cuts. Information is available at www.opensecrets.org.

Her top contributors in descending order were: Majority Committee PAC, UPS, Fisher Investments, Tuesday Group PAC, Holland Partners, Big Al’s Barrel Cellars, Weyerhaeuser Co., Berkshire Hathaway, Columbia Vista Corp.

Top industries among her contributors in descending order were: Retired, Real Estate, Forestry & Forest Products, Securities & Investment, Republican/Conservative.
