Letter: A silent protest of Trump

By Ralph W. Burke, VANCOUVER
Published: May 14, 2017, 6:00am

Like millions of Americans, I am not pleased by the babbling sounds and questionable acts of President Trump. I only hope we can guide him out of office before he starts World War III.

Also, like millions of Americans, I strongly disapprove of violent street protests. Since our president affirms his everlasting respect for our nation’s flag — he’s even considering making the burning of Old Glory a federal crime — why not send a message he just might understand? Affix every piece of your outgoing mail with our most commonly used postage stamp, the one depicting our beautiful U. S. flag, intentionally placed upside down. Just imagine how many people might view this respectful message of your distress.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
