Vancouver police say a teen sustained life-threatening injuries Friday afternoon after he was struck by a vehicle and dragged following an altercation in a store parking lot.

Police responded to a reported hit-and-run about 2 p.m. in the Safeway store parking lot at 13875 S.E. Mill Plain Blvd. Initial information provided by witnesses indicated that at least two boys met in the parking lot, and an altercation ensued.

One of the boys hit the other with a vehicle, and the victim was dragged in the parking lot, according to a news release from the Vancouver Police Department.

The boy, who has not been identified, suffered significant injuries and was transported to an area hospital, police said. The suspect fled in a vehicle, which was later located by police.

Detectives are interviewing the suspect and multiple witnesses. The investigation is ongoing.
