Camas native and astronaut to talk about innovation

Dr. Michael Barratt, a Camas High School graduate and NASA astronaut, will talk innovation at the Global Entrepreneurship Week in Vancouver.

According to Washington State University Vancouver, a sponsor of the event, Barratt will talk about how his schooling helped set him on his path, as well as how his work as helped lead to breakthroughs in biotech.

On two trips into space, Barratt helped develop NASA’s space medicine programs. He was the medical operations lead on the International Space Station, where he studied the impacts of weightlessness on humans.

Barratt’s speech will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Nov. 16 at the Pearson Air Museum Historic Hangar, 1115 E. Fifth St. Tickets start at $25 for general admission. Attendance is free to college students with valid ID.
