KIRKLAND — Inrix, a Kirkland-based traffic data and car technology company, confirmed Monday that it had laid off “a couple dozen” people last week from its global workforce. The company, which also has offices in California, Europe and Asia, has about 450 employees total.
The layoffs come as Inrix is reorganizing, Inrix director of communications Mark Burfeind said, with plans to focus on traffic and parking data, analytics and OpenCar, a dashboard technology startup that Inrix acquired last year.
The Kirkland company also bought parking technology startup ParkMe in 2015 and European traffic data company Itis Holdings in 2011. Those acquisitions resulted in more than 90 new employees, Burfeind said. Inrix has been pushing further into developing connected car technology in recent years, bolstered by its acquisition of OpenCar.
