CORVALLIS, Ore. — An Oregon judge sentenced a 21-year-old Albany woman to six months of probation on Tuesday in connection to the death of a 15-year-old boy at a treatment facility last year.

The Gazette-Times reports Amanda Jayne Brown entered a no contest plea to misdemeanor criminal mistreatment, and her case will be dismissed if she successfully follows the stipulations of her probation.

Brown who was an employee at the treatment facility Farm Home near Corvallis was indicted in March after authorities say she was negligent.

Authorities say she did not follow the facility’s policy of checking on a person after 15 minutes. The boy went to take a shower, and she didn’t check on him until about 40 minutes later. The boy attempted suicide and died the next day at the hospital.
