EUGENE, Ore. — Airport officials say a smoldering fire was reported aboard a Delta Airlines aircraft parked at a gate at the Eugene Airport, prompting the evacuation of the one concourse while the fire was put out.

The Register-Guard reports the fire was reported Thursday afternoon on a plane that had no passengers on board.

Airport spokesman Casey Boatman says the plane was pushed away from the building out of an abundance of caution.

The flight — 5085 — was expected to depart for Seattle but the flight was canceled.

Boatman says no active fire was found but smoke had filtered into the plane.

The source of the smoke remains under investigation.
