Health officials cleared portions of the Vancouver Wal-Mart Supercenter and the McDonald’s restaurant inside the store for reopening on Saturday — two days after they were closed due to rats.

Clark County Public Health responded Thursday to a complaint regarding rats at the restaurant and Wal-Mart store at 221 N.E. 104th Ave. Following an inspection, health officials closed the restaurant and the Wal-Mart bakery and deli for at least 48 hours.

All three areas reopened on Saturday morning, said Joe Laxson, program manager for environmental public health.

McDonald’s spokesman Derek Morrison said Monday the restaurant’s owner/operator called health officials as soon as rats were discovered and worked with health officials to resolve the problem.
