PORTLAND — Portland police say the suspect is in custody. “Residents no longer need to shelter in place,” the agency said on Twitter.

About 20 police units have flooded Southeast Portland in response to a disturbance in a home, police said.

Members of the Portland Police Bureau’s Special Emergency Reaction Team and Crisis Negotiation Team were responding to the 17200 block of Alder Street early Monday, the agency said. Alder Elementary School, which is across the street, is closed because of the police activity.

Alder Street is closed between 168th and 174th avenues.

Police didn’t release any additional details about the disturbance around 4:45 a.m. The first police unit was dispatched before 3 a.m.
