Letter: Listen to teen voices

By Robin Crocker, RIDGEFIELD

I want to express my sincere appreciation and enthusiasm to The Columbian’s Micah Rice and Amanda Cowan for the Oct. 1 story “Protests Stir Emotions.” Their choice to explore how our youth are expressing their opinions is a true achievement of journalistic purpose. So often the news relates to the grown-up world only. Teens need to feel and know that this is their world, too.

As a social studies teacher, I get really excited when I see community organizations choosing to give teen voices a significant, meaningful platform through which to engage their larger community.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
