Yale — Starting Tuesday, afternoon travelers of state Highway 503 (Lewis River Road) will have to use an alternate route for several days.

Crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will temporarily close the highway near Speelyai Bay Road for rock blasting. A signed detour will be in place.

When the highway is reopened, traffic will alternate through one lane on the highway until the project is finished.

The closure schedule is as follows:

• Tuesday, noon to 4 p.m.

• Oct. 11, noon to 2 p.m.

• Oct. 12, noon to 2 p.m.

Additional periodic closures will be scheduled in the future as stabilization of the hillside continues.
