IndyCar racing is returning to Portland International Raceway in 2018.

The Portland Grand Prix will take place Aug. 31-Sept. 2, IndyCar announced on Thursday. It will be race 16 on the 17-race Verizon IndyCar series.

It will be the first time Indy cars have raced at PIR since the Champ Car World Series raced at the 1.97-mile road course in 2007. Prior to that, CART or Champ Car events were held every year since 1984.

“It is very exciting to see IndyCar racing coming back to the Rose City,” said Portland Parks Commissioner Amanda Fritz. “An event of this magnitude means $12-$15 million in revenue to the city … I also acknowledge that there will likely be noise impacts in nearby neighborhoods. We will work closely with the organizers and the neighborhoods to mitigate the impact.”
