RIDGEFIELD — Ridgefield School District is turning to the public for help naming its new intermediate school, which will be part of the district’s new grade 5-8 campus scheduled to open for the start of the 2018-2019 school year.

The campus will house a 5-6 school and a 7-8 school. The district is seeking name suggestions for the 5-6 school. The 7-8 school will retain the View Ridge Middle School name, as students will be moved out of the current View Ridge building downtown into the new location across South Hillhurst Road from Ridgefield High School.

Name suggestions have to keep with the current patterns of naming schools in Ridgefield, which all use “Ridge” in the title. The current proposed name for the school is “(blank) Ridge Intermediate School.” The district is seeking suggestions to fill in the blank.

The district asks people to send in name suggestions with how they came up with it and why it would be a good fit for the school. Email nominations to carolyn.enos@ridgefieldsd.org by Oct. 23.

All entries will be forwarded to the school board.
