Orchards — Madeline McMillen, a student at Frontier Middle School, hosted a book drive for Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. She collected $300 during the drive, some of which was raised through Facebook and personal asks. About $100 was raised at Camtown Youth Festival with her friend Bella Emerson, also a Frontier Middle School student. Madeline donated 200 new books to the children’s hospital, and each book came with a homemade get-well card. During the holiday season, Madelin also raised money by selling baked goods, and used the money to buy toys for Toys for Tots and jackets and blankets for the Portland Rescue Mission.
