Applications are available for the city of Vancouver’s homeless prevention grant fund. The city allocated $1.2 million to the fund as part of the Affordable Housing Fund, approved by voters in 2016. Homeless prevention funding is intended to provide housing assistance to individuals or families that ear up to 50 percent of the area median income and at risk for becoming homeless or who are already homeless.

Programs applying grants can provide housing, rental or utility assistance, self-sufficiency services or other services related to preventing homelessness or helping homeless people find housing. Public, for-profit and nonprofit organizations can apply. A pre-submittal meeting for interested applications is at 10 a.m. Nov. 1 in the Aspen Room at City Hall.

The deadline to apply is Nov. 30. Fund distribution is expected in February after approval by the city council. To apply, visit www.cityofvancouver.us/affordablehousingfund.
