Letter: Respect the national anthem

By Caren Lorenz, Battle Ground
Published: September 4, 2017, 6:00am

After reading the recent letters about the national anthem, I felt compelled to put in my 2 cents’ worth. Being raised in the Navy, when the anthem is played, you stand quietly at attention and sing if you wish. It is not a rock concert to be accompanied by random screaming. And the person singing should show respect, not “make it their own.” If in doubt, just observe the color guard accompanying the flag. Yay America!

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
