PORTLAND — A wildfire burning in the scenic Columbia River Gorge is about 30 contained — up from a last report of 17 percent.

In addition to increased containment, westbound lanes of Interstate 84 in the Columbia River Gorge have reopened to motorists between Hood River and Troutdale.

Fire officials said Friday the blaze that began Sept. 2 has charred 65 square miles.

Firefighters are expected to get help from the weather, with rain in the forecast Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
