DNR eases campfire restrictions

OLYMPIA — Rain and cooler temperatures are reducing fire dangers in the state, and thus the Washington State Department of Natural Resources is lifting restrictions on recreational campfires.

Campfires are now allowed in approved fire pits at designated campgrounds on DNR lands.

However, because dry conditions still exist, other outdoor burns, such as debris burning, are still prohibited.

Counties and local fire districts may have their own continued campfire bans. Federal lands may also have ongoing bans.

For the latest information on burn restrictions, call 1-800-323-BURN or visit www.dnr.wa.gov/burn-restrictions.
