Washougal — Hathaway Elementary School students learned about the importance of brushing their teeth during a visit from Dave Stinchfield from Discovery Dental. Stinchfield didn’t come alone. He brought a gigantic toothbrush to help show students how to brush properly. Discovery Dental has visited local schools to teach kids about oral hygiene since 2009, visiting somewhere between 1,100 and 1,500 students a year. They usually make visits in February for Children’s Dental Health Month. They hand out gift bags filled with a new toothbrush, toothpaste and floss. They also teach students about tooth decay, plaque and cavities.
