A Life Flight helicopter was activated Friday evening for a motorcycle crash near Northwest 15th Avenue and Hayes Road in Woodland, according to scanner traffic monitored at The Columbian.

The crash was reported shortly before 7:15 p.m. in the 42800 block of Northwest 15th Avenue.

First responders arrived to find a male on the ground and, initially, not breathing.

Clark County Sheriff’s Sgt. Chad Rothenberger said the two motorcyclists were traveling at a high rate of speed, passing cars, when one left the roadway and collided with a parked vehicle and a trailer and was thrown from his motorcycle. The other motorcyclist drove off but did not return to provide any details.

The man injured in the crash reportedly started breathing again, and Life Flight was requested to be on standby, according to scanner traffic.

The patient was transported to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center, according to scanner traffic. Rothenberger could not confirm but did say the man was taken to a nearby hospital and his condition is unknown.

No other injuries were reported at the scene.

Rothenberger said it is unknown at this time if alcohol or drugs were involved, and an investigation continues.

No further information was immediately available.
