Letter: Republicans destroying education

By John Monaco, Vancouver
Published: April 7, 2018, 6:00am

The Republicans would rather starve the “beast” when it comes to funding public education because some feel charter schools or private schools are a better use of public funds. The concentration of Republican governors hopefully will allow the party to do so. It’s not been proven this approach is the best. In the meantime they think killing public education, along with the teachers unions, is the way to go.

It’s a shame they seem to be so hell-bent to stop educating our young people. Come on, people — let’s wake up.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
