Letter: Local story pleasant surprise

By Texanna Bossoff, Stevenson
Published: April 14, 2018, 6:00am

I was on my walk from my newspaper box to my front door and scanning the headlines of The Columbian. Imagine my joy and delight as I see “Dressed in Confidence — 17-year-old discovers his inner queen amid Vancouver’s fledgling drag scene” (April 8).

I moved to Stevenson from a Seattle suburb a year and a half ago. It was super tough going from liberal Seattle to a staunchly “red” community. I am an ally of all things, including gay rights, so it has been an odd transition.

The Columbian will probably get bombarded with hate mail about this article, so I wanted to take the time to write about how much I enjoyed it. My husband and I love The Columbian and will continue to support unbiased journalism, even if we don’t agree 100 percent.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
