Vancouver – The Oregon Department of Transportation plans to hold a fifth public open house in Vancouver to discuss the use of strategic tolls on Interstates 5 and 205 in the Portland metro-area.

ODOT claims congestion pricing, a tolling subset, will help improve travel times and trip reliability on the region’s interstates. For example, congestion pricing systems charge higher prices for driving on a road when demand is greater, in the morning and evening rush hours, for example.

The toll open house will be held 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Monday April 30 at Marshall/Luepke Community Center, 1009 E. McLoughlin Blvd., Vancouver.

Additionally, other open houses will be held in the metro area next week, prior to the Vancouver event.

  • 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, April 14, at Ron Russell Middle School, 3955 S.E. 112th, Portland.
  • 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Wednesday April 18, Tigard Public Works Auditorium, 8777 S.W. Burnham St., Tigard.
  • 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Saturday April 21, Embassy Suites Airport, Pine Room, 7900 N.E. 82nd, Portland.

Also, an online open house is now available through April 30 at www.openhouse.oregondot.org/congestion.
