Letter: Again, ‘no’ on Battle Ground bond

By Lovell Travis, Amboy
Published: April 16, 2018, 6:00am

While I support schools, it is outrageous to ask taxpayers in the Battle Ground Public Schools district to approve a bond twice in two months. The identical proposal includes $3 million “play sheds.”

The bond acknowledges 2018 taxes would increase. The projected 2019 decrease is no guarantee that total taxes would decrease. This year’s surges in state school and EMS levies increased my latest property taxes by a whopping 31 percent. Many BGPS residents share similar circumstances.

BGPS: No means no. I voted no in February, will vote no on April 24, and won’t consider voting yes for any similar propositions prior to 2019.
