Letter: Trump is making things worse

There are 500,000 dead in seven years of the Syrian war and President Trump wonders where our “Thank you, America” is for (claiming) to eradicate ISIS there. Really? Also chemical attacks have taken place throughout the year. Why now? And after having been bombed so much I wonder how the Syrians feel about it.

If you voted for Trump, I hope you’ve been soul searching. Because you voted for someone who: 1) didn’t show his tax returns; 2) bragged about sexually assaulting women; 3) made fun of a disabled person; 4) indiscriminately attacks our press; 5) attacks our law-enforcement agencies; 6)attacks our judiciary. These last three are so crucial to the survival of our precious freedoms.

People have denied and rationalized all of these things when voting for him. A reminder: Hillary Clinton had a high approval rating as secretary of state, was a well-respected first lady of Arkansas and the U.S. and has done good work on behalf of children and women.

Perhaps you’re fine and you’ve just been watching commentary on Fox News. Please think about how this has affected democracy on the world stage — read Madeleine Albright’s April 6 column in The New York Times, “Will We Stop Trump Before It’s Too Late?”
