Barberton — St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church is celebrating its 150th anniversary year. Parishioners gathered at the church for an anniversary picnic on July 7 to celebrate, and posed for a picture captured with a drone. The congregation posed as the number “150.” The original church was built in 1868 on the grounds where St. John Cemetery, 10770 N.E. Maitland Road, Vancouver, is currently located. The current church is located at 8701 N.E. 119th St., Vancouver.
