Volunteer Connections provides opportunities through the Human Services Council. For information on the following, call 360-735-3690.

Clark County Connects, a one-day service event, seeks volunteers for its seventh-annual event, 9 a.m. to noon Sept. 8. Families, groups, and individuals are encouraged to register for the event where hundreds of volunteers accomplish a variety of projects around the county. Get information about projects and sign up at clarkcountyconnects.org

Area Agency on Aging and Disabilities of Southwest Washington is taking applications for its long-term-care ombudsman program. Volunteers advocate for the rights of residents in long-term-care facilities, and should expect to serve for one year, on call. Training begins in September, requiring 32 hours during four days.

Clark County Veterans Assistance Center seeks volunteers for two events: a car show on Aug. 25, and its annual Stand Down on Sept. 15. Help distribute flyers and set up. Stand Down volunteers must be 18 or older and pass a criminal background check.

Volunteer Connections seeks help at its Senior Expo, Sept. 15 at ilani. Set up, greet patrons, conduct surveys, or host a raffle table. Shifts are between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.
