RIDGEFIELD — John Main is resigning his position on the Ridgefield City Council effective Oct. 1, as he and his wife, Tami Main, are moving to Idaho to be closer to their children and grandchildren. He joined the council in 2012 after two years on the city’s planning commission.

Main was known for his work in the city in planning and developing multi-modal trails connecting the Ridgefield community and promoting the arts. While on the council, he helped establish an Arts Quarter in 2017, and represented the city as vice chair on C-Tran’s board of directors, as treasurer for the Ridgefield Art Association and as a member of the Ridgefield Main Street board.

His current term was scheduled to end in 2021, but whoever the council appoints to the position will have to run for re-election in 2019.
