Both drivers were hurt in a wrong-way crash on Highway 500 near Andresen Road early Sunday.

The Washington State Patrol said the incident was reported at 1:01 a.m. in the westbound lanes of the divided highway, just east of the Andresen Road interchange.

According to the Washington State Patrol, a 2000 Honda Accord driven by Dang M. Nguyen, 36, of Vancouver, entered the westbound lanes from the offramp and began driving the wrong way. The Honda quickly collided with a 1998 Toyota Camry driven by Henry L. Pham, 23, of Washougal.

Both drivers were reported injured.

A passenger in Pham’s vehicle went to the hospital to be checked. In an email to The Columbian on Tuesday, he said he had suffered four broken ribs.

Although the incident remains under investigation, troopers said alcohol and/or drug use are suspected to be a contributing factor in the crash.
