SEATTLE — The Archdiocese of Seattle has added a name to its list of clergy accused of sexually abusing children.

The Seattle Times reports Monsignor Philip Duffy, who died in 1987, was added to the list — the first time a name has been added since the original list of dozens of clergy was published in January 2016.

Church spokesman Greg Magnoni says the addition followed a “long” and “painstaking” investigation spurred by an abuse allegation against Duffy that occurred decades ago.

Duffy served as superintendent of the church’s schools in Seattle from 1947 to 1968.

According to the church, the people named on the list faced allegations that have been “admitted, established or determined to be credible.”

Magnoni says the church in not currently investigating any other officials.
