Letter: Fight fires with common sense

By D. Alton Johnson, Camas

We need to let the loggers back into our forests, or what’s left of them. Radical environmental policy has gotten us to where we are and the forests are going up in flames. Talk about global warming gases — look at all the smoke! Sure enough, they won’t let you burn wood in your stoves, but let the forests burn. Environmentalists didn’t want logging, and especially didn’t want midslope logging roads. Now it’s hard to get to the fires because of the lack of roads.

Common-sense policies must be used again. Timber communities need logging jobs. I say let them back in.
