Letter: Thanks to Herrera Beutler

By Kathleen "Tzipi" Hartson, Vancouver

As a Maplewood Neighborhood resident, I am encouraged by Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler’s support to increase the funding for low-income housing tax credits. This funding has helped to provide for additional housing for some of the vulnerable people in our community.

In another year, the old Fish & Wildlife building in my neighborhood will become a day center for people currently without a home. It is not enough. These fellow citizens still need a place to go at night. Homelessness is multifaceted issue, not a one-size-fits-all, but it is all our concern. We simply must meet the need head on. Thanks to the congresswoman for her efforts to care about the vulnerable among us.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
