1. Treat yourself

Enjoy free cookies, cakes, muffins, scones, and biscuits for your BFF (Best Furry Friend) during Treat Day at the Cedar Creek Grist Mill, from noon to 4 p.m. Aug. 25. The goodies are made from whole wheat flour ground on-site using 1876 technology. The mill, east of Woodland, at 43907 N.E. Grist Mill Road, is a working museum listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Visitors can take home free samples of flour, along with recipes to re-create the treats at home. The mill is normally open on weekends from 1 to 4 p.m., when volunteers are on-site to answer questions. Admission is free. Donations to support the mill are appreciated. 360-225-5832 or www.cedarcreekgristmill.org

2. 10 years of Angst

Angst Gallery has anchored downtown Vancouver’s art scene for a decade, and now the public is invited to celebrate this haven for the arts with light refreshments and beverages at Angst Gallery’s 10th Anniversary Celebration from 3 to 5 p.m. Aug. 25. Since 2008, the gallery at 1015 Main St. has enticed artists and art-lovers into its space with unusual exhibits and works ranging from serious to whimsical. At the gallery, visitors can see contemporary sculpture, ceramics, fiber art and jewelry, in addition to traditional oil, watercolor and acrylic paintings. Normal gallery hours are Wednesday through Friday from noon to 4 p.m. and Saturdays by appointment. After 4 p.m., the gallery is accessible through Niche Wine Bar, 1013 Main St. 360-553-1014 or angstgallery.com

3. Sunflower power

Nothing says summer like a field of sunflowers, their wide-open faces turned toward the sun. Celebrate this cheerful, never-out-of-fashion flower at the Sunflower Festival from noon to 6 p.m. Aug. 25 at Heisen House Vineyards, 28005 N.E. 172nd Ave., Battle Ground. This is the ninth such festival, a family-friendly event with art vendors and sunflower-themed products, live music, sunflower crafts for kids, wine and cider tasting for adults and vintage cars on display. Heisen House Vineyards boasts buildings listed on the State and National Historic Registers. Admission is free, although donations toward historic preservation efforts are welcome. Guests can also sign up for a Van Gogh Sunflower Painting Class from 2 to 5 p.m.; $35, includes all supplies and a glass of wine. 360-713-2359 www.heisenhousevineyards.com

4. Oldies and goodies

Go on a treasure hunt in downtown Camas at the Vintage and Art Faire, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 25 near Camas Antiques, at 305 N.E. Fourth Ave. where it intersects with Birch Street. The event features more than 60 vintage and art vendors, filling downtown streets with vintage, antique and repurposed items, as well as works by local artists. Browse for home and garden items, furniture, clothing, handmade jewelry and accessories. In addition to original fine art paintings and photography, shoppers will find one-of-a-kind metal works, ceramics, garden art, fiber art and recycled art. Jazz guitarist Bret Malmquist will perform from 10 a.m. to noon and the Carol Rossio Jazz Trio will perform from 12:30 to 3 p.m., with many songs in French. Fresh food includes sweet and savory waffles by Hello Waffle, Getta Gyro, My Dad’s Kettle Korn, and treats and pastries by Truly Scrumptious. 360-216-7378 or downtowncamas.com/event/camas-vintage-art-faire

5. Salmon sessions

There’s something fishy about the beer at the Hopworks Urban Brewery Salmon-Safe IPA Festival from noon to 9 p.m. Aug. 25 at 2944 S.E. Powell Blvd. in Portland. Attendees can sample craft brews certified as salmon safe, which means that ingredients come from farms committed to protecting water in regional watersheds. The festival, which features 22 breweries, along with music, lawn games, art, and food to purchase, is divided into two sessions. The first is an all-ages session from noon to 4 p.m. The second, from 5 to 9 p.m., is for those 21 and older. In between the sessions, hear panel discussions with Salmon-Safe industry leaders. Tickets are $25 and include 10 drink tickets, pretzels, a commemorative glass and a raffle ticket; the panel costs $5 to attend. Proceeds benefit the environmental nonprofit Salmon-Safe. 360-828-5139 or hopworksbeer.com
