Resurfacing planned for West Sixth Street in Vancouver

As long as the weather behaves, the city of Vancouver will begin resurfacing downtown West Sixth Street starting Tuesday. Paving should occur Sept. 7 if all goes according to plan. Construction between Columbia Street and the City Center Interstate 5 offramp will take place between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., but work hours could extend until 8 p.m.

On-street parking will be restricted during construction, and access to parking garages on West Sixth Street will be limited.

During Sept. 7 paving, the left lane of the City Center offramp will be closed, but the right lane with access to C Street will be open.

Washington Street will also be open, but expect flaggers to control traffic.

The city warns drivers, pedestrians, cyclists and pets to use caution when traveling near the freshly paved surface until the barricades are removed and Sixth Street is reopened.
