Letter: Cretin steals local mailbox

By Bob Rodgers, Vancouver
Published: December 12, 2018, 6:00am

If the person or persons who stole this old World War II vet’s mailbox off the post on Southeast Evergreen Highway would come to my house, I would give them the keys, as I have no further use for them now. Also, I now realize it would not be smart to install another mailbox.

The theft will then mushroom, with the cost of renting a post office box, plus the gas and hassle to go miles to retrieve the mail.

The thief is probably the same cretin who uses that stretch of highway as his or her trash-dumping ground: the same one who stole the newly erected “no dumping” sign erected there to discourage said dumping.

I think I heard the thief’s mother barking this morning as she ran by the empty mailbox post.
