Letter: Not-so-happy holidays

By Norm Krasne, Vancouver

This is not a joyous season for America. Unfortunately, our nation is caught up in a period of very troubling circumstances, largely brought upon us by a president who hasn’t the foggiest idea of what it takes to be in that position. The very few of his appointees who were qualified to serve in their positions have gone or announced their intention to step down. Who will save us from his incapacity?

So, in this usually joyous season, we are left with a shutdown government, an imploding stock market that is “looking ahead” to a deteriorating economy (despite what the Fed “sees”), children separated from their parents at our southern border, increased danger in Syria and Afghanistan, and our long-time allies pulling away. Worse, it’s difficult or impossible to look to the future for relief from this quagmire.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
